Cathie Calhoun, APRN

Cathie Calhoun is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). She received her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Emory University and her Graduate degree from Georgia State University. She has been licensed as a Registered Nurse in Georgia since 1983 and as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) since 1993. She is certified by the American Association of Nurse Credentialing as a Clinical Specialist in Psychiatry.
Cathie's professional experience is with both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care at CPC Parkwood Hospital, Emory University Hospital, and SummitRidge Center for Behavioral Care. She has also worked in the community with psychiatrists in outpatient practices.
Cathie specializes in patient evaluation and assessment .With the psychiatrist, she assesses the need for medication, therapy, or a combination of the two. She works with the physicians to monitor patients' response to medication and regulate dosages.
In her role as a therapist, Cathie has worked with a variety of social/emotional issues in adults, adolescents, couples and families. Her special interest is in treatment of anxiety disorders, such as OCD and Panic Disorder. She is a member of the OC Foundation and is a Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist.
